Accountability



Year after year, market research shows United Way to be one of the top charities in Canada.

We lead in terms of awareness and prominence with transparency, accountability, and trust as valuable assets.

United Way is accountable to its donors and the public to ensure prudent, effective and efficient distribution, and the use of its resources in accordance with United Way Statement of Principles of Donors Rights. The role and responsibility of the United Way of Lunenburg County and funded groups will be governed by agreements that reflect this stewardship role.


The United Way is committed to protecting your privacy. We do not rent or sell your donor information to any other organization. We take every step to ensure the confidentiality of your information is maintained. The information you or your employer provide to us is used to help us:

i) in our campaign;
ii) process or receipt your donation;
iii) respond to any of your information requests.

We do not provide donor information to any third parties except for the following:

Designations
If a portion of your gift is directed to another United Way or another Charity, we provide the amount of your donation, your name and workplace to the recipient. If you do not wish this to occur, please indicate this in the appropriate section of the pledge form.

Leadership Donors
United Way may publicly recognize leadership donors. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please indicate this when making your pledge, in the box provided for this purpose.

Third Party Suppliers
In order to maintain cost effectiveness and continue to provide a high level of donor service, some third parties (such as computer or mailing houses) do some data processing of computer files on our behalf. These companies enter into strict confidentiality agreements and pursuant to those agreements, do not keep any donor information on file.

As required by law The United Way of Lunenburg County may release personal information when it is reasonably necessary to comply with the law.


If you are a donor to the United Way of Lunenburg County, whether to our workplace campaign via our paper pledge form, direct mail, special events or including but not limited to, unsolicited gifts, your information is not shared with other organizations, unless a portion of your gift is directed to another United Way or another charity (see Designations, above).
