DO YOU HAVE A GENTLY USED BIKE THAT YOU NO LONGER USE?

DO YOU HAVE A GENTLY USED BIKE THAT YOU NO LONGER USE?

DO YOU HAVE A GENTLY USED BIKE THAT YOU NO LONGER USE OR HAVE SIMPLY OUTGROWN? or do want to donate a new bike?
Why not bring it to the Centre Court of the Bridgewater Mall between September 26 and November 4. Where the bikes will be repaired by volunteers and given to kids who can’t afford to purchase one.

A simple rite of passage for many Canadian children is the opportunity to own or have access to a bike. Independence, self-confidence, and a healthy lifestyle are just some of the benefits a child gains by owning his or her own bike. The opportunity to explore their community on two wheels and to be ‘one of the gang’ helps to dispel the stigma of being left out.

Unfortunately for many Lunenburg County children, bike ownership is simply not possible, because for many families the cost of purchasing a bike and helmet is simply too restrictive.

The United Way of Lunenburg County, in partnership with The Bridgewater Mall and various community groups have pooled our many resources and talents and created the Bikes for Kids Program.

Now in its 4rd year, Bikes for Kids has distributed over 250 bikes to deserving Lunenburg County kids and their parents.

A big shout out to our bike donors (you know who you are) and our many community partners and sponsors. Bridgewater Mall / Eastside Plaza, O’Regan’s Subaru Cycling Team, Bridgewater Police Services, CKBW and Country 100, Michelin Tire – Bridgewater Plant, PRO Kids in Bridgewater, Municipality of Chester, Municipality of Lunenburg, The YMCA Youth Leaders, Tiffany and Megan Wile, Better Together Family Resource Centre, Chester Area Middle School, Chester Building Supplies
